About Us

AHB is an independent expert witness and forensic engineering consultancy providing impartial, technically rigorous evidence in complex engineering and construction disputes. Headquartered in London, at the centre of the United Kingdom’s legal community, we support clients in courts, tribunals, arbitration forums, and insurance proceedings worldwide.

Our primary focus is Expert Witness Services. We prepare CPR 35 compliant reports, joint expert statements, and independent testimony for use in litigation, arbitration, adjudication, mediation, and expert determination. Alongside our work in the United Kingdom, we are appointed internationally under leading arbitration frameworks, including ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, SCC, DIAC, and SIAC.

Our role is consistent across all forums. We assist decision makers by presenting clear, structured, and defensible technical evidence.

Who We Are

AHB was founded to meet a clear need in dispute resolution. Clients require independent expert evidence that combines practical project delivery experience with advanced academic knowledge.

Our authority is built on decades of real-world engineering delivery across highly regulated industries, including nuclear power, oil and gas, petrochemicals, renewables, marine, aviation, and large-scale infrastructure. We understand projects from the ground up. Our experience spans every stage of engineering delivery, from on-site fabrication and welding through supervision and management to global technical authority roles.

This foundation ensures that when we prepare reports or provide testimony, our opinions are not only technically rigorous but grounded in the realities of how complex projects are designed, constructed, inspected, and operated

The Scope of Our Expertise

AHB provides expert evidence across a broad range of engineering disciplines and systems. These include:
  • Welding engineering and fabrication
  • Physical and mechanical metallurgy
  • Corrosion and material degradation
  • Non-destructive testing (NDT) and inspection
  • Quality assurance and quality control
  • Codes, standards, and specification interpretation
  • Damage and failure mechanisms
  • Root cause investigation and forensic engineering
  • Fabrication and infrastructure disputes
  • Structural systems
  • Pressure retaining systems
  • Insurance causation and technical liability
Our expertise extends to structural and pressure-containing components, pipelines, vessels, pipework systems, heavy fabrication, and large infrastructure assemblies. We are regularly instructed where technical integrity, compliance, and performance are under scrutiny.

Whether the issue concerns corrosion in a petrochemical plant, cracking in welded structures, degradation in pressure systems, QA documentation failures, or structural performance in infrastructure projects, our approach remains analytical, impartial, and evidence-based.

Our Commitment

Every report we produce, and every opinion we give, is prepared with care, structure, and independence. Our responsibility is not to advocate for one side, but to assist tribunals, courts, insurers, and decision makers in reaching sound conclusions.

We write in a way that is technically accurate yet accessible to non-technical readers. We understand the importance of clarity in high-value disputes involving structural systems, pressure retaining components, corrosion, degradation, and fabrication quality.

Independence. Impartiality. Technical rigour.
These principles define AHB.
